Happy New Year!
2017 was a big year for me. I moved home and moved to a whole new county and city. 2017 felt like it whizzed by in a blur. I spent most of 2017 not really feeling that great about life. I felt constantly tired (commuter life) and I think due to the upheaval earlier in the year moving from Essex to Kent it meant that I just didn’t really feel that settled. Consequently that meant I didn’t feel settled in myself. I can’t really say that I stuck to any of my new years intentions either. But hey, I’m not going to beat myself up about it.
So, for 2018 I’m revisiting my five intentions that I made last year but this time I am going to plan and give myself some mini goals. Again, the emphasis is that these are intentions and not resolutions.
Intentions not resolutions
I didn’t stick to any fitness regimes that I started even if I had the best intentions! The longest stretch I completed was a whole month, which is an achievement in itself for me! I did start walking a lot more. The distance to and from the station means that I am easily clocking up 8,000 steps just on my daily commute. This is a good thing and I actually really enjoy walking. I have chosen to walk into Canterbury city centre rather than driving and parking a few times too. Going forward, I want 2018 to feature an emphasis on fitness for me but I am sticking with small changes for now.
Reading hasn’t been something I have prioritised this year. I can’t really remember what I have read but I think I only managed two books – The Last Kingdom and The Pale Horseman both by Bernard Cornwell. I did start reading Game of Thrones but I only lasted a few chapters. My ipad is charged up and ready to go for my commute tomorrow morning. First book on the list for 2018… The Lords of the North by Bernard Cornwell.
I didn’t do too badly with this. I have learnt some things but my photography isn’t where I want it to be. So like the two intentions above I’ll simply continue with this and the aim is just to learn and take as many photographs as possible. I’d love to invest in a new camera but its just not that feasible for me at the moment. I do have a lovely new Fujifilm Instax camera from my sister that I am looking forward to using!
For a little while I posted every Sunday. I managed 34 out of the 52 posts I was aiming for and that is more than half so I’m thinking that its fairly good! Anyway, my intentions here are to continue to create content and not be afraid of putting content out there.
This is something that has been on my mind for a while and in the last few months I’ve made a conscious effort to throw old clothes away and replace them with new ones. I dyed my hair a lovely shade of dark brown again at the end of October and I felt so much better! I simply felt more like me. In 2018 I’m continuing with this and the intention is to blog about the journey!
This is a new one I am adding to my list. The bedroom is the one room I want to concentrate on decorating this year. That means new wardrobes and new furniture. I’ve already chosen what I want on the ikea website (hello pax wardrobes and hemnes chest of drawers) and this is going to make the world of difference! I’m excited already. Just a teensy bit more saving up to do!
