Carnaby Street is one of my favourite places to shop in London. Firstly its close to where I work and secondly, its an absolute treasure trove of all things beauty and make up, with brands like MAC, Estée Lauder, Benefit, Pixi by Petra and Too Faced having their own shops. Carnaby Street also has a Boots and the famous Liberty London department store who also sell a variety of traditional and cult beauty products too. Whatever beauty product you are looking for you would be sure to find it in London’s Carnaby Street. So, when I heard that Birchbox were opening their very own pop up shop there, I couldn’t wait to have a look inside.
The shop front is gorgeous and beckoned me to walk inside and explore. My eyes lit up from the moment I walked in (I am a self confessed beauty addict!). The atmosphere inside the shop is lovely – its friendly, warm and welcoming. The assistants are lovely too! They showed me where everything was and let me know they were there if I needed any help.
I loved the ‘With Love’ wall too! It was a nice addition and I had a little sneak peak of what people had written and I added my own.
What is Birchbox?
Birchbox are a beauty box subscription service set up by two beauty gurus in 2010. The idea came from a desire to create a better way to shop for beauty products. Lets face it, it is difficult to find what you are looking for with all the variety out there and the potential cost of finding that one product! Birchbox have made this process simpler by creating a monthly beauty box filled with five products for you to try every month for a reasonable price. They also sell full size products if you wanted to purchase a product because you loved the sample.
The pop up shop is a great idea because it gives you the chance to create your own Birchbox! This is the bit I was most excited about. A perfect beauty gift for friends and family at Christmas.
How to Curate Your Own Box:
There is a selection of 15 products for you to choose from. They are split between five categories with three products in each. The categories are two make up, two skincare and one haircare. You simply choose one of the three products per category and you have your very own curated Birchbox.
I love the process of choosing the products because I thought carefully about each person I was buying for and what kind of things they would like, need or might want. Its really every beauty lovers dream!
The product sizes are quite decent too, they were what I would call travel size or a luxe sample size.
When you finish creating your box you simply take it to the counter where it is beautifully gift wrapped for you. You can choose your own tag and sticker to put on the front if you want to as well. The marble and rose gold design of the box is beautiful too! I brought three and I really enjoyed creating them. I have to say these are my favourite presents that I have brought this year.
Have you been there? What did you think?
The Birchbox pop up shop is open till the end of January.
