Film Premiere | xXx The Return of Xander Cage

Film Premiere | xXx The Return of Xander Cage

On Tuesday last week Sam and I went to the European premiere of xXx The Return of Xander Cage. We arrived at the O2 in London about 6:30pm and I felt like an excited kid. Premieres make you feel kinda special even though you aren’t a celebrity. We made our way towards the cinema; excited to watch the film and hopefully catch a glimpse of Xander Cage aka Vin Diesel himself.

We made our way to the silver screen to find our seats and they were amazing! Our seats were row Q, so towards the back and right in the middle. The seats have high headrests, a decent amount of leg room, and each seat was nicely spaced apart so you didn’t feel like you were too close to the person next to you. It was also really comfy. I couldn’t see the tops of other people’s heads in my field of view either – it meant I was completely focused on the screen and the film.

I think this particular screen is called the super screen at Cineworld, O2. It definitely was a super view and experience! We saw the film in 3D and I have to say, its one of the best 3D films I’ve seen, in terms of quality of the 3D. I’m not usually keen on 3D as I find it quite difficult on my eyes but this felt natural and I didn’t feel like my eyes needed a break every twenty minutes like I find with most 3D films.

The other great thing about film premieres (or just the ones I have been to) is that there is always a free packet of popcorn and water on your chair. Popcorn has to be the BEST movie snack! Mine was the coconut and vanilla flavour by Proper Corn and Sam had salted (his favourite). He managed to wait till the film started before eating his, I lasted about an hour before tucking into mine but I was good and did share with Sam 😉

Xander’s Big Entrance:

We eagerly awaited the start of the film and enjoyed the live broadcast that showed the actors arriving. Vin Diesel arrived in a helicopter with flaming xXx’s in the background. The rest of the cast arrived in a snazzy speedboat. Each of them were interviewed on the proverbial red carpet so we got to know the cast better and hear some behind the scenes gossip.

One of the questions that each cast member was asked was “What is your karaoke song?” I particularly liked Tony Jaa singing in Thai and laughed at Vin Diesel singing (in a bad English accent!), ‘What A Wonderful World’. ‘World’ turned into something that sounded more like “weld” with a deep voiced cockney twang. See what I mean? Honestly, he just sounded like a Disney villian. I was crying with laughter but cringing at the same time. Vin’s voice suits an American accent, lets just say that!

He also told us a lovely story about his daughter singing this particular song at the birth of his second daughter. How lovely is that? He honestly seems like a really nice person in real life.

There was a round of applause as Vin Diesel himself announced the start of the film at 8:45pm. I’m not going to give any spoilers on the narrative but it was a good, entertaining film. Its action, action, action with some comedic moments in between explosions, battles and some jaw dropping stunts. Here’s a snippet of info for you – Vin did most of these action sequences by himself. Entertained? I was.
