Bonfire night is one of my favourite nights of the year. The night sky is alight with a colourful display of sparks and smoke trails and a touch of magic. Not to mention some very loud bangs and those kind of family stories that make fond memories at this time of year. I remember being a kid and watching a catherine wheel in my uncle’s garden which ended up setting the shed alight! Thankfully the shed wasn’t too badly damaged and no one was hurt but it does show you that an all important bucket of water nearby is always a good idea if you are doing fireworks at home.
Oh did I also mention the time my Dad had a smoke bomb? No idea where he got it from but I tell you, it was funny. No one could see further than about a metre and the whole garden was filled with thick orange smoke. No idea what the neighbours must have been thinking but I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much in my life.
This year’s bonfire night was no exception on the magic or laughter. We were with Sam’s family and friends and had a lovely evening. There was food (hot dogs!), the yummiest home made rocky road and kids giggling and playing aplenty. I don’t have any pictures of the company or the delicious rocky road but I do have a few of the fireworks!
